Of futures? Why does this road’s horizon

Darken at the edge of a desert with no pyramids

And a man like a mirage of your father wondering, What

Is it to be a man? While in another desert

There are pyramids and they are pointing to God in heaven?

And is this heaven, and is it beautiful, this tawdry

Hotel room, this refuge of profane raptures,

Caravaggesque, dangerous, pierced with shadows,

But also voluptuous like a corpse freed of posture?

Can you believe it, do you have faith enough

To see how this wretched container spills grace,

How, stitched up like a ripped sack,

Covered in filth, it shines as if with the light

Thrown back by mountains of ice at dawn

In a place with no meaning and no time
